What our research says

Photoroom

For anyone listing physical products, Photoroom is the fastest route from a kitchen-table photo to a marketplace-ready image, and the batch and Shopify tools mean it scales from one seller to a catalogue team. The pricing is two meters stacked - AI credits for the generative tools and an export cap on top - so a seller who mostly removes backgrounds pays little, while video and virtual-model output burns credits quickly. Developers get a clean per-image API with a real free sandbox, which is rarer than it should be.

Pros

  • Background removal and the other core tools are unmetered on every paid plan
  • Batch processing, catalogue management and a Shopify sync cover the whole listing workflow
  • API at $0.02 to $0.10 per image with a free monthly sandbox and MCP access for agents
  • Established Paris company with a large user base, not a thin wrapper

Cons

  • Exports are capped per month (1,000 on Pro) on top of the credit pool
  • Headline prices are annual; Max and Ultra prices were not readable on the page today
  • Video generation and virtual models consume credits fast - Pro allows no video at all
  • No free plan is listed on the web pricing page; only the API has a stated free allowance

Pokecut

For everyday e-commerce and social edits Pokecut covers a lot of ground for the money, and the release history shows real momentum rather than a parked wrapper. The annoyance is the credit model on top of a subscription, and a pricing page that will not show a number without a live browser session.

Pros

  • Background removal, background replacement, magic eraser, enhancer, image extender, ID photos and collage in one editor
  • Native iOS and Android apps alongside the web version
  • Batch editing for processing many images at once
  • Public release timeline showing steady feature additions since the November 2024 launch
  • Free tier with starter credits and a 3-day Pro trial before committing

Cons

  • Prices never render server-side, so cost is unknowable without signing in
  • Paid plans are still credit-metered, so heavy AI use runs out mid-month
  • Advanced models such as Nano Banana Pro are gated to paid tiers

Choose Pokecut if you need

  • Sellers producing product shots that need clean backgrounds at volume
  • Everyday edits split between desktop and phone
  • People who want generation and editing in the same tool rather than two
