What our research says

Munch Studio

Reasonable if you want one bill for clipping plus scheduling and you are a small business rather than a creator. If you only want the best clips out of a podcast, dedicated clippers cut better and cost a third as much.

Pros

  • Clipping, captions, posters, carousels and multi-network scheduling in a single subscription
  • Multi-brand plans aimed at agencies rather than bolt-on seats
  • Brand profile is seeded from your website, so first drafts are less generic than a blank prompt

Cons

  • No free tier at all — you are on a card after 7 days
  • Entry plan caps you at 500 repurposing minutes and 10 generated videos a month
  • The 2025 rebrand shifted focus to social management; if you liked the old repurposing-only product you are now paying for a wider bundle
  • No public API found

OpusClip

The default choice for turning a podcast or webinar into shorts, provided you accept that a human still has to reject a good share of the clips it picks. Pro now costs half as much on annual billing, which makes it the plan to compare against rivals; the free tier is for judging quality, not for publishing.

Pros

  • Reframing and animated captions are good enough to post without touch-up
  • Clip score gives a usable first-pass ordering of candidates
  • Free tier is a real plan, not a trial, so output quality is checkable first
  • Pro exports to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve and costs $14.50 a month on annual billing

Cons

  • Free exports carry a watermark, allow no editing and stop being exportable after three days
  • Clip selection still needs manual review; the score is a hint, not a verdict
  • Starter is monthly-only, so the annual discount applies only from Pro up
  • Full API access and custom integrations sit behind quote-only Business; Pro gets limited API access
