Search API that returns a written answer with inline citations, source links and a confidence score
MIAPI is a developer API for grounded answers. You send a question, it searches the live web and returns synthesised prose with inline citations, source links and a confidence score, rather than a list of results to parse yourself. It adds a knowledge mode over your own documents, streaming responses, and separate news and image endpoints, and it is OpenAI-compatible so it can drop into existing client libraries; an MCP server exposes it to Claude Desktop and Cursor. SDKs cover Python, JavaScript and cURL. Tiers run from a free 500 queries a month up to $250 for 100,000, with the per-thousand rate falling as volume rises. Beyond a .uk domain and a support address, the site names no company or country.
Free is $0 for 500 queries a month. Starter is $9 for 2,500 queries ($3.60 per 1,000), Developer $33 for 10,000 ($3.30), Pro $90 for 30,000 ($3.00) and Scale $250 for 100,000 ($2.50). Enterprise is quoted. The free tier states a monthly allowance, so the paid tiers are recorded as monthly; the page does not restate the period on each one.
Use tool ↗A cheap, tidy alternative to the big answer APIs, with the two things that matter for grounding — citations and a confidence score — inside the response body, and an OpenAI-compatible shape so switching costs almost nothing. What is missing is the vendor: no company name, no address, no country beyond a .uk domain, which is a hard sell for anything production-critical.
Watch out: Billing is per query rather than per token, so an agent that fires several searches per user turn multiplies the bill in a way token-based budgeting will not predict.
