What our research says

Lovable

The cleanest prompt-to-app experience for someone who cannot write React, and GitHub sync means you are not locked in — but 100 credits a month is less runway than it sounds once the app gets real.

Pros

  • Live preview after each change keeps iteration legible to non-developers
  • GitHub sync and Supabase mean the output is real, portable code
  • The free tier is enough to find out whether the idea works
  • Per-action credit costs are published, so estimating is possible

Cons

  • Free tier caps at 30 credits a month regardless of the daily grant
  • Debugging a bad generation can cost more credits than the original build
  • Opinionated stack — React front end, Supabase back end, little room to differ
  • API access is reserved for the Business tier, which charges double Pro's price per credit

Repaint

Repaint has grown from a site-rebuild tool into a chat-run back office for small service businesses: pages, payments, memberships, bookings and email in one workspace. Rebuilding from an existing URL still saves the retyping step most builders force on you. The free tier is gone, though, and a weekly AI allowance governs how much you can change, so it suits owners who will settle in rather than tinkerers.

Pros

  • Can rebuild from an existing live site, not just a blank prompt
  • Payments, memberships, courses, booking and email are built in rather than bolted on
  • Y Combinator-backed with a named founding team
  • Every plan includes custom domains, starting with three on Plus

Cons

  • No free tier any more, only a 14-day trial after which the workspace is paused
  • Weekly AI allowance caps how much editing you can do, and unused usage does not roll over
  • No public API or code export found

Which one fits

Choose Lovable if you need

  • Founders and designers shipping a working prototype without a developer
  • Anyone who wants generated code exported to GitHub rather than held hostage
  • Small internal tools needing authentication and a database on day one

Choose Repaint if you need

  • Small service businesses replacing an outdated site and a separate booking or membership tool
  • Owners who prefer describing changes in chat to a drag-and-drop editor
  • Coaches, studios and shops that need payments and scheduling on the same site
