Overview

About Lensa

Lensa is Prisma Labs' photo editing app, made for people who post portraits and selfies. It applies trend-style effects and color presets in one tap, retouches skin, hair and makeup, erases objects or people by brushing over them, upscales cropped or dark photos, and previews new haircuts on your own face from a single selfie. Paid Magic Avatars packs are also sold in the app. Lensa runs on iPhone and Android, with a browser version behind a sign-in on its own site, and is sold as a subscription with a trial. Prisma Labs, the Sunnyvale, California company behind the Prisma art-filter app, has published it since 2018.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Lensa

medium confidence

Lensa suits people who edit portraits on their phone and want trendy looks, retouching and clean-up without learning an editor. Anyone who wants transparent pricing on the website, desktop-grade control, or natural-looking edits of group and product shots will be better served by Snapseed, Lightroom or Photoroom.

Pros

  • One-tap effects and presets aimed at social posts
  • Object eraser, enhancer and beauty tools in one app
  • Hairstyle try-on from a single selfie
  • Long-running app from an established developer

Cons

  • Prices appear only inside the stores; the website lists none
  • Trials auto-convert to paid subscriptions
  • Beauty filters can look heavy-handed on natural photos

Best for

  • Social media users polishing selfies and portraits on a phone
  • People who want quick object removal and photo enhancement in one app

Not for

  • Photographers who need RAW editing and precise local adjustments
  • Users who dislike auto-renewing trials and in-app purchases

Watch out: Trials turn into recurring subscriptions unless cancelled, and unused subscription content (avatars, effects) does not carry over to the next period; token and pack purchases are non-refundable. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
