What our research says

Learn Earth

Cheap and structured in a way most chatbot tutors are not: you get an ordered path and graded practice rather than an open conversation you have to steer. Six dollars a month is easy to justify. The unknowns are who runs it and what verified knowledge actually means in practice, since neither the operator nor the sourcing is disclosed.

Pros

  • Any topic is broken into ordered steps rather than answered in one block
  • Practice sessions grade themselves and explain the miss immediately
  • Premium is 6 USD a month, well under most tutoring subscriptions
  • A permanent free tier exists, limited by a daily meter rather than a trial clock

Cons

  • No company name, country or founding year is published anywhere
  • The verified knowledge claim is asserted with no visible sourcing or citations
  • The daily energy meter gates the free tier hard enough to interrupt a study session
  • Browser only, with no mobile app, offline mode or API

Quizlet

Quizlet is still the default for exam-cramming flashcards because the library is enormous and the free tier covers set creation and the main study modes; the AI additions are convenient rather than essential. Pay for Plus if you hate ads or want the generated practice tests, but if you care about long-term retention, Anki's free spaced repetition remains the stronger tool.

Pros

  • Largest public library of study sets, searchable by course and textbook
  • Set creation, Learn, Test and Match modes are free, with ads
  • Plus is free for verified teachers, and school licences exist
  • Web, iOS and Android apps with offline study on mobile

Cons

  • Free tier shows ads and holds back the AI practice tests and explanations
  • Site and apps have moved features in and out of the paywall repeatedly, so older advice is unreliable
  • Annual plan auto-renews after the 7-day trial and the monthly plan has no trial
  • No public API for building on the set library
