About JetBrains AI

JetBrains AI is the subscription that switches on AI Assistant (completion, chat, commit messages, refactoring suggestions) and the Junie coding agent across IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm and the other JetBrains IDEs; Junie also runs as a CLI against GitHub and GitLab and can use a model you bring yourself. Billing is in AI credits worth one US dollar each: AI Free gives 3 credits per 30 days, AI Pro 10 and AI Ultimate 35, with organisation seats at double the quota and an AI Enterprise seat sold through IDE Services. The vendor states that the tiers share the same features and differ in cloud quota, and AI Pro comes free with the All Products Pack, dotUltimate and DataSpell. A separate alpha product, JetBrains Air, now sits at the web address that used to carry JetBrains AI and orchestrates Junie alongside Claude, Codex, Copilot and other agents.

If you already pay for a JetBrains IDE, this is the cheapest way to get a competent assistant and an agent that understand the IDE's own refactorings and inspections, and All Products Pack holders get AI Pro for nothing. Budget by credits, not by seat: the $10 tier is ten dollars of model usage a month, which an agent session can burn in an afternoon, so heavy Junie users end up on Ultimate or bringing their own key.

Pros

Same feature set on every tier, with the paid plans adding cloud quota rather than gating features
Credits are denominated in dollars, so the cost of a model call is legible
Junie runs in the IDE and as a CLI with GitHub and GitLab, and accepts your own model keys
AI Pro bundled free with All Products Pack, dotUltimate and DataSpell

Cons

AI Free's 3 credits per 30 days is a demo allowance, not a working plan
Ten dollars of credit a month on AI Pro runs out fast with agent workflows
