Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Ideogram starts at $8, IMGtopia at $4. Both have a free tier. Only Ideogram ships a public API.

What our research says

Ideogram

If the image needs words in it, this is still the model that spells them correctly, and that single capability is worth more than a broader feature list to anyone making posters or packaging — everything else about it is merely competitive.

Pros

  • Text rendering remains the best in the category and is the whole reason to choose it
  • Documented API at docs.ideogram.ai for integration
  • Style presets, region editing and character consistency round it out beyond a bare generator
  • Entry tier at about $8 is cheap next to Midjourney

Cons

  • Credit costs vary by model and quality setting, so plan sizes are hard to translate into images
  • Free tier is a weekly trickle rather than anything usable
  • The pricing page is bot-protected, making prices hard to confirm independently
  • Priority credits are monthly and the queue is genuinely slow without them

IMGtopia

IMGtopia is a thin wrapper over Stable Diffusion 3.0 Medium at a low euro price, and it is honest about which model it runs — many competitors are not. The embed code is a small differentiator if you want a generator on your own site. Against that: 1024px is the ceiling, there is no editing, inpainting or upscaling, and the yearly price table contradicts itself.

Pros

  • States the model it runs (Stable Diffusion 3.0 Medium) rather than hiding it
  • Entry paid tier is under EUR 4/month for 500 images
  • HTML embed codes let you host the generator on your own site
  • Terms grant commercial use of generated images
  • Interface localised to English, Hungarian and Slovak

Cons

  • Maximum output is 1024x1024 — no upscaling path
  • Free tier is 10 images total, not a recurring monthly allowance
  • The yearly pricing table is self-contradictory
  • No API and no editing tools

Which one fits

Choose Ideogram if you need

  • Posters, packaging, book covers and anything with legible text in frame
  • Logo and wordmark exploration before a designer takes over
  • Developers wanting text rendering through an API

Choose IMGtopia if you need

  • Cheap bulk prompt-to-image at web resolution
  • Putting a working generator inside your own page via embed
  • Hungarian- or Slovak-speaking users who want a localised interface
