What our research says

Generor

Pay-per-generation with no monthly floor is the right model for people who generate irregularly, and the weekly free credits let a light user keep going without paying, at the price of joining a marketing list. The trade is maturity: the site still carries an early-access label, and one account and balance span a family of small sites run by the same Norwegian company.

Pros

  • Prepaid credits with no subscription, and paid credits never expire
  • 25 free credits a week for accounts that opt in to product emails, plus 100 for verifying a card
  • 109 generators covering image, video, 3D, text, code and audio, routed across 315 models
  • Named Norwegian company with a registered address and org number
  • Documented API and an MCP server

Cons

  • Still labelled early access, so expect rough edges
  • Credits and login are shared across a dozen sibling sites, so the blast radius of an account issue is wide
  • The weekly free allowance depends on staying subscribed to promotional email
  • Per-generation cost varies by model, making spend hard to forecast

Replicate

Replicate is the quickest way for a developer to call a popular image, video or language model, or ship a custom one, without managing GPUs, and per-output pricing makes small workloads predictable. Teams with steady high volume, or who need their own cloud contracts, usually get better unit costs from dedicated GPU providers or the model makers' own APIs.

Pros

  • Very large catalog of models behind one consistent API
  • Per-output pricing on many models makes costs easy to estimate
  • Fine-tuning and private deployments for custom models
  • Cog tool for packaging and pushing your own models

Cons

  • Private deployments bill for idle time while instances are up
  • Cold starts can slow the first request to less-used models
  • Costs at scale can exceed self-hosting or direct vendor APIs

Which one fits

Choose Generor if you need

  • Occasional users who resent monthly subscriptions
  • People who want many output types behind one login
  • Trying a lot of models without separate accounts

Choose Replicate if you need

  • Developers prototyping with many different models through one API
  • Startups adding image or video generation without running GPUs
  • Teams packaging and serving custom models with Cog
