What our research says

Flowjin

A sensible mid-market clipper for podcasters who also want scheduling, and one of the few that treats audio-only shows as a first-class input. Clip-selection quality trails the category leader, so you will re-cut more of them by hand.

Pros

  • Free tier gives a real 60 minutes to evaluate, not a two-clip teaser
  • Transcript editor is faster than a timeline for talk-heavy content
  • Creator tier's 3,600 minutes a month is generous for the price
  • Unused minutes roll over for a month instead of vanishing at renewal

Cons

  • The 60 free minutes are one-off, not monthly
  • Starter caps exports at 1080p and 150 minutes, a big step down from Creator
  • Starter projects expire after 60 days, so old source files disappear
  • Small Toronto team with no public API and limited integration surface

OpusClip

The default choice for turning a podcast or webinar into shorts, provided you accept that a human still has to reject a good share of the clips it picks. Pro now costs half as much on annual billing, which makes it the plan to compare against rivals; the free tier is for judging quality, not for publishing.

Pros

  • Reframing and animated captions are good enough to post without touch-up
  • Clip score gives a usable first-pass ordering of candidates
  • Free tier is a real plan, not a trial, so output quality is checkable first
  • Pro exports to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve and costs $14.50 a month on annual billing

Cons

  • Free exports carry a watermark, allow no editing and stop being exportable after three days
  • Clip selection still needs manual review; the score is a hint, not a verdict
  • Starter is monthly-only, so the annual discount applies only from Pro up
  • Full API access and custom integrations sit behind quote-only Business; Pro gets limited API access
