Use tool ↗About FilmRun
FilmRun is a strategy tool for filmmakers deciding where to submit a finished film on the festival circuit, not a submission portal itself - actual entries still go through FilmFreeway. It profiles what each of over 1,600 accredited festivals has historically selected, checks a film against that pattern, protects world-premiere status so a film is not submitted somewhere that would void it, tracks deadlines, and updates its recommended strategy after each acceptance or rejection comes in. It was founded by producer Dylan Gillah and is based in the UK. Pricing is per film rather than a recurring subscription.

Pros & cons of FilmRun
FilmRun's premiere-protection check and per-festival taste profiling address a real, specific risk for indie filmmakers - burning a world premiere on the wrong festival - that a spreadsheet of deadlines does not catch. The catch is it is a strategy layer only: you still submit through FilmFreeway yourself, and per-film pricing means costs scale with how many films you're placing, not a flat monthly fee.
Pros
- profiles programmer taste per festival from historical selection data rather than generic prestige rankings
- actively protects world-premiere eligibility across submissions
- recalibrates its recommended strategy after each acceptance or rejection
Cons
- does not submit for you; FilmFreeway is still required as the actual submission portal
- pricing is per film, so a filmmaker with several projects pays repeatedly rather than once
Best for
- independent filmmakers deciding a festival submission order for a finished film
- filmmakers specifically trying to protect a world-premiere status
Not for
- filmmakers who want one tool that also handles the actual submission process
- anyone wanting a flat subscription rather than per-film pricing
