FaceFusion is open-source face-swap and face-enhancement software you install and run yourself on Windows, macOS, or Linux, with dedicated installers for the first two. It supports several face-swap models and around ten enhancement models, plus lip-sync and expression tools, processing photos or video on your own GPU rather than through a hosted service. The GitHub project has roughly 30,000 stars and ships under the OpenRAIL-AS license, a responsible-AI license carrying use restrictions rather than being fully unrestricted open source. It's maintained by Henry Ruhs, credited elsewhere as running FaceFusion LLC and previously the author of the Roop face-swap tool this project succeeds.

It ships under a responsible-AI license (OpenRAIL-AS) with built-in use restrictions rather than a fully permissive open-source license, a real attempt to constrain misuse even though enforcing a license against local software is inherently limited. The actual cost is technical: it needs a capable GPU and comfort with installers or a Python environment, and there's no support line if it breaks.
Watch out: A license restricting misuse exists, but nothing technical stops someone from ignoring it on local software — treat any face-swap output involving a real person's likeness carefully regardless of the license.
