What our research says

ClipFinder

ClipFinder goes after the backlog problem of multi-hour streams nobody has time to scrub: it finds the moments, reframes and captions them, and hands you a shortlist to approve instead of a timeline. The free tier is now real enough to judge the highlight picks on your own footage before paying, which was the missing piece earlier. Whether its scoring beats a human skimming chat-replay spikes is still something only your own VODs can answer.

Pros

  • Automatic 9:16 reframing and captions in 20+ languages, not just clip detection
  • Direct publishing to YouTube and TikTok with per-clip approval
  • A free tier with one hour a month lets you judge the picks on your own footage
  • Pro accepts VODs up to five hours long

Cons

  • Starter's 10 hours a month and two-hour per-stream cap push long streams up to Pro
  • The 'unlimited' Pro and Studio tiers sit under a fair-use policy rather than a stated number
  • No legal entity, address or country is published
  • Accuracy of its clip-worthiness scoring is a vendor claim, not independently confirmed

OpusClip

The default choice for turning a podcast or webinar into shorts, provided you accept that a human still has to reject a good share of the clips it picks. Pro now costs half as much on annual billing, which makes it the plan to compare against rivals; the free tier is for judging quality, not for publishing.

Pros

  • Reframing and animated captions are good enough to post without touch-up
  • Clip score gives a usable first-pass ordering of candidates
  • Free tier is a real plan, not a trial, so output quality is checkable first
  • Pro exports to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve and costs $14.50 a month on annual billing

Cons

  • Free exports carry a watermark, allow no editing and stop being exportable after three days
  • Clip selection still needs manual review; the score is a hint, not a verdict
  • Starter is monthly-only, so the annual discount applies only from Pro up
  • Full API access and custom integrations sit behind quote-only Business; Pro gets limited API access
