Use tool ↗About Cleft Notes
Cleft is an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac app for recording an unstructured voice memo and having it transcribed on-device, then reorganized into a summary, action items, and a clean transcript rather than a wall of raw text. A CarPlay integration lets it record while driving, and notes can be sent on to apps like Notion, Apple Notes, Obsidian, Bear, Craft, Things 3, and Todoist. The free Basic tier covers recordings up to five minutes with three output styles; a $6.99-a-month Plus subscription raises the recording limit to thirty minutes, adds custom AI instructions, and adds family sharing for up to five people.

Pros & cons of Cleft Notes
Cleft is a strong pick for anyone who thinks out loud and wants that turned into usable notes rather than a wall of raw transcript, especially since the free tier is a genuinely usable five-minute recorder. The catch is it's Apple-only, so it's a non-starter for anyone on Android or Windows.
Pros
- On-device transcription rather than sending audio to a server
- Structures rambling audio into summaries and action items automatically
- Free tier supports recordings up to five minutes with real output styles
- Exports directly into Notion, Obsidian, Things 3, and other note apps
Cons
- Apple-only, no Android or Windows version
- Even the paid tier caps single recordings at 30 minutes
Best for
- iPhone or Mac users who record rambling voice memos and want them structured
- Drivers who want to record notes hands-free via CarPlay
Not for
- Android or Windows users, since no version exists for either
- Anyone needing recordings longer than 30 minutes even on the paid tier
