Chrome extension that transcribes a YouTube video and lets you chat with it instead of scrubbing through the timeline.
Claras is a Chrome extension that transcribes a YouTube video, including ones without official captions using its own speech recognition, then generates a chapter-linked summary and a chat interface for asking follow-up questions about the content. A bulk mode processes whole playlists at once. It was built by an independent founder, Guillermo Morales, after finding himself scrubbing through long tutorials for one detail. Free use covers a handful of videos per day; paid tiers remove the cap and add support for bringing your own AI API key.
Free tier allows a limited number of videos per day; Pro is $4.39/month for 50 videos/day, Unlimited is $6/month, and a $179 one-time Lifetime tier is also offered.
Use tool ↗Solves a specific, narrow annoyance well: not having to scrub a long YouTube video to find one answer. Its own speech recognition for uncaptioned videos is the real differentiator over extensions that only reuse YouTube's captions, though the free daily cap will push regular users to a paid tier quickly.
