Use tool ↗About Buildcheck
Buildcheck answers a question that usually gets decided by whoever is loudest in the room: is this workflow worth building software for, does it warrant an AI agent, or would a carefully written prompt do the job? You describe the workflow in plain language, it breaks the goal into individual tasks with a starter prompt for each, you score each task yourself, and it returns a recommendation in a couple of minutes. The examples are deliberately mundane, such as summarising meeting notes or chasing unpaid invoices, which is where teams over-build. It is built by a single maker, James Wylie, under New Zealand terms, with no pricing published.

Pros & cons of Buildcheck
The value is in the question it asks rather than the technology behind it - most automation projects fail because nobody checked whether a prompt would have sufficed. It is a single-maker tool with no pricing and no company behind it, so treat it as a useful sanity check rather than something to build a process around.
Pros
- Asks the build-versus-prompt question most teams skip
- Free to use with no signup gate advertised
- Named maker rather than an anonymous shell
Cons
- No company or support commitment, only a named maker
- No pricing or business model stated
- Advice only - it builds nothing
Best for
- Teams deciding whether to build automation or just prompt
- Non-technical managers scoping an idea before asking engineering
- Anyone prone to over-building small workflows
Not for
- Teams needing the automation actually built
- Enterprises requiring a vendor with support commitments
Watch out: This is one person's side project with no stated business model, so do not make it a dependency in a real process.
