What our research says

Brandwatch

Brandwatch is the research-grade end of social listening: the archive, the segmentation and the analyst tooling are built for insight teams at large brands, and the Cision tie-in matters if PR and comms already run on that stack. Small marketing teams who want to schedule posts and glance at mentions will pay enterprise money for a fraction of what they use, and the suite is still visibly three acquired products stitched together.

Pros

  • Historical archive and custom segmentation go deeper than most listening tools
  • Listening, publishing and influencer modules under one vendor and contract
  • Search-and-generative-AI monitoring added to the suite for tracking brand presence in AI answers
  • APIs and integrations are published as part of the suite

Cons

  • Quote-only pricing with no trial; evaluation means a sales cycle
  • The suite is three acquired products (Brandwatch, Falcon, Paladin) with differing interfaces
  • Terms and contracts route through the Cision master agreement, so you are buying from the group
  • Data coverage depends on platform APIs that have narrowed (X, Reddit) and is not fully listed

Waldo

Waldo is a data licence dressed as an agent: the value is the live social, ad, audience and trend feeds, and the connector that lets you query them from the chat window you already work in. Buying by pack and by deliverable suits agency work, where a pitch is a discrete cost you can bill on. The per-report price adds up if monitoring becomes routine.

Pros

  • Connector puts live social, ad, audience and trend data directly into Claude and ChatGPT
  • Pitch output is concrete: angles, proof points, stakeholder profiles and an honest go/no-go
  • Monitor briefs can be white-labelled for clients and delivered on any cadence
  • API exposes more than 200 endpoints for building your own tools
  • No subscription required — packs and per-deliverable pricing

Cons

  • $249 per pitch and per report gets expensive at any volume
  • No company name, country or legal entity published on the site
  • Credit consumption per query is not documented before purchase
  • Gemini support is still listed as in development

  • Agencies running influencer campaigns alongside listening for several brand clients

Choose Waldo if you need

  • Agencies pulling together a new-business pitch on a deadline
  • Strategists who want live category data inside Claude or ChatGPT
  • Teams building internal marketing tools on a data API
