What our research says

AutoDraw

A nine-year-old Google toy that still works and still costs nothing, useful for a quick icon or a whiteboard doodle. It is not an image generator, so anyone expecting prompt-to-art should look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Zero friction: no login, no email, works on phone browsers
  • Suggestions are real artist drawings, so output looks consistent rather than mangled
  • Free forever with no watermark on the PNG download

Cons

  • Matches only against a limited catalogue of common objects; anything specific fails
  • PNG only, no SVG or layered file
  • Untouched for years; the surrounding editor is very basic

Silly Times

Silly Times is a small, focused app: a child draws, taps a wand and gets a painted version back, aimed squarely at young kids rather than adult hobbyists. There are no ads, accounts or in-app purchases, but the App Store now asks $4.99 up front even though the vendor's own page still advertises it as free, and it is iPhone and iPad only.

Pros

  • one tap turns a rough doodle into a finished watercolor-style picture
  • no ads, no accounts, no social features and no in-app purchases
  • PencilKit drawing tools respond well to fingers and Apple Pencil
  • single up-front price instead of a subscription

Cons

  • drawing tools are basic: pencil, marker, highlighter and eraser
  • iOS only, with no Android version found
  • the product page says free while the App Store charges $4.99
  • few App Store ratings, so there is little outside feedback
