Aside

Aside's angle is that automating a web task does not require an API integration with every tool; it needs a browser that acts while you are already logged in and clicks through the same steps you would. That is a real capability, now on Windows as well as macOS, but letting a browser act on logged-in accounts raises real questions about mistakes on sensitive actions.

Pros

  • Requires no per-tool API integration since it drives the same web interfaces a person would use
  • Sensitive actions like payments and posts require human confirmation by design
  • Backed by Y Combinator with a named founding team
  • Credentials autofill without being exposed directly to the AI model, per the vendor

Cons

  • No Linux build; desktop apps cover macOS and Windows only

  • Browser-simulated automation is inherently more fragile to site redesigns than a proper API integration

Dia

The bet is that an assistant living inside the browser, with your tabs and connected work tools already in reach, beats pasting context into a separate chat window. It mostly holds up for people whose work is genuinely spread across Slack, Notion, Teams and Workspace, and it now runs on Windows as well as Mac. The entry AI plan is cheap, but the daily briefings and reports sit in the $100 a month tier.
