Andi

Worth keeping as a private, ad-free second opinion next to Google, and it genuinely predates most of the AI-search wave. Answer depth and follow-up reasoning still sit behind Perplexity, and with no API and no paid tier there is nothing to build a workflow on.

Pros

  • Free with no ads, no sign-up and no personal-data tracking
  • Chrome extension and PWA make it easy to set as the default engine
  • Answers carry source citations and low-quality pages are filtered out
  • Ships iOS and Android apps, unusual for a search startup this small

Cons

  • Small team on roughly $2.5M raised, competing against very well-funded rivals
  • No API, no team workspace, no export or saved-research features
  • Handles complex, chained questions less well than Perplexity
  • No paid tier means no support commitment and no guaranteed capacity

GPTGO

A thin front-end that calls Google and a chat model on your behalf, useful only if you want both on one page without logging in anywhere. Perplexity does the same job with real citations and free ChatGPT already browses the web, so the case for this has largely evaporated since 2023.

Pros

  • Zero friction: no login, no key, no quota prompt
  • Keeps conventional search results next to the generated answer rather than replacing them
  • Mobile apps exist for both iOS and Android

Cons

  • No company, jurisdiction or contact is published anywhere on the site
  • The underlying model and its version are never named, so answer quality cannot be audited
  • Generated answers are not source-attributed the way Perplexity's are
  • Ownership of the mobile apps sits under a different name (UniChat / UniAPI) than the website brand
