Photograph an official letter and get it explained in your own language — now sold as custom AI builds
Totoy began as a phone app for people facing official paperwork in a language they do not read well: photograph a letter and get a plain-language explanation, a translation, the key facts and the ability to ask follow-up questions, across dozens of languages, aimed at migrants and readers with low functional literacy. The apps are still listed on the App Store and Google Play. The website, though, now sells custom AI implementation to businesses — a free 45-minute workshop, an on-site potential analysis, then a built and tested solution — with case studies covering radiology referral triage and a municipal document explainer built for RIS GmbH. Everything is developed and hosted in the EU, and nothing carries a list price.
No published prices. The site states that cost depends on requirements and that figures for the next steps are discussed during the free workshop. The consumer app is a free download with in-app purchases we could not read — both store listings blocked our fetches.
Use tool ↗The original idea is genuinely useful: point a camera at a bureaucratic letter and have it explained in your own language. But the company has moved upmarket — totoy.ai now reads as an AI consultancy with a workshop-first sales motion, and the consumer app is no longer what the site is selling. Anyone arriving for the document explainer will land on a contact form.
Watch out: The 'document insights' label describes the old consumer app; what totoy.ai sells today is a custom build with a sales call in front of it.
