What our research says

Surfer

Surfer is the editor to buy when a team writes for Google in volume and wants a number on every draft before it ships; the term-coverage score is a proxy, but a disciplined one, and the Google Docs and WordPress routes keep writers out of yet another tab. Solo bloggers on a budget and teams who already run Clearscope will find the yearly-first pricing and the document quotas harder to love. The 2025 pivot to AI-search tracking is real but priced as a second product.

Pros

  • Live score in the editor turns a ranking-page analysis into concrete edits
  • WordPress plugin, Google Docs and Contentful integrations put the score where writing happens
  • Audit and ranking-drop alerts catch decay on pages that were once fine
  • AI-search visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews under the same login

Cons

  • Headline prices are billed yearly; monthly plans cost about 20% more
  • Documents and tracked pages are metered, and unused credits reset rather than roll over
  • API access is reserved for the Peace of Mind tier or an add-on
  • Owned by Positive Group since October 2025, so roadmap and pricing may follow the group's packaging

Wordrific

Wordrific skips the brief and outline steps by writing articles straight from ideal-customer research and then publishing them, with derived social posts, across several channels on a schedule. It is priced by daily article volume, so it suits teams that can actually review and use 30 to 150 pieces a month; whether that volume of AI-written content holds up in search and AI answers over time cannot be verified from the outside.

Pros

  • Plans scale cleanly by daily article volume rather than vague credits
  • Publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Framer and Medium and drafts social posts from each article
  • Yearly billing roughly halves the monthly price
  • API access on the Scale plan for custom integrations

Cons

  • No free plan: the trial lasts 7 days and requires a card
  • Daily-volume pricing assumes you can review and use that much output
  • Article quality and actual ranking results are not independently verifiable from the site alone
  • Company details (founders, country, team size) are not disclosed

Which one fits

Choose Surfer if you need

  • Content teams and agencies producing dozens of briefed articles a month
  • SEO leads who want a repeatable brief-and-score workflow writers can follow without training
  • Brands that want one place for Google rankings and ChatGPT or Perplexity mentions

Choose Wordrific if you need

  • B2B marketing teams wanting a steady content cadence without hiring more writers
  • Agencies producing SEO content for several clients
  • Teams wanting one tool that both writes and publishes across channels
