What our research says

SEOJuice

Most SEO tools produce a list of fixes and leave you to make them; SEOJuice makes the edits on the live site, which is the point and also the risk, softened now by a per-feature review gate. Bolting AI citation tracking onto the same product covers the two things people currently worry about in one subscription. The price has moved up a weight class: the free tier and the EUR 24 entry plan are gone, and every site is $99 a month, so a portfolio of small sites adds up fast.

Pros

  • Applies internal links, meta rewrites, schema and alt text automatically to a live site, and re-runs on content changes
  • Tracks citations across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot plus AI crawler hits
  • Integrations for WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Framer, Ghost, Next.js, raw JS and a Cloudflare Worker
  • Named legal entity, Calm North Labs UAB in Lithuania, with a public founder

Cons

  • Automatic edits to a production site are hard to audit after the fact, even with the review option
  • $99 per website per month with no free tier; the earlier free and EUR 24 plans have been withdrawn
  • Fair-use cap of 2,000 processed pages a month per site, with extra pages sold in $49 bundles
  • No public API found

Surfer

Surfer is the editor to buy when a team writes for Google in volume and wants a number on every draft before it ships; the term-coverage score is a proxy, but a disciplined one, and the Google Docs and WordPress routes keep writers out of yet another tab. Solo bloggers on a budget and teams who already run Clearscope will find the yearly-first pricing and the document quotas harder to love. The 2025 pivot to AI-search tracking is real but priced as a second product.

Pros

  • Live score in the editor turns a ranking-page analysis into concrete edits
  • WordPress plugin, Google Docs and Contentful integrations put the score where writing happens
  • Audit and ranking-drop alerts catch decay on pages that were once fine
  • AI-search visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews under the same login

Cons

  • Headline prices are billed yearly; monthly plans cost about 20% more
  • Documents and tracked pages are metered, and unused credits reset rather than roll over
  • API access is reserved for the Peace of Mind tier or an add-on
  • Owned by Positive Group since October 2025, so roadmap and pricing may follow the group's packaging

Which one fits

Choose SEOJuice if you need

  • Small teams with no dedicated SEO headcount running one or two sites
  • Sites on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Framer, Ghost or Next.js
  • Anyone tracking brand citations in ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity alongside on-page work

Choose Surfer if you need

  • Content teams and agencies producing dozens of briefed articles a month
  • SEO leads who want a repeatable brief-and-score workflow writers can follow without training
  • Brands that want one place for Google rankings and ChatGPT or Perplexity mentions
