What our research says

Klap

Worth it if you already publish long podcasts or interviews weekly and want clip cutting off your plate. If you upload once a month, the per-clip cost is hard to justify against a manual edit.

Pros

  • Reframing tracks multiple speakers without constant manual keyframing
  • Captions span 52 languages, wider than most clipping tools
  • Publishing and scheduling are built in, so no separate social scheduler is needed
  • A real documented API, still rare in this category

Cons

  • Quotas count clips, not minutes, so a throwaway clip costs the same as a good one
  • Source-video length is capped per tier; long conference recordings force Pro or above
  • Clip selection still needs human review, and virality scores are directional at best
  • Month-to-month billing costs roughly double the advertised annual rate

reap

Two things separate it from the crowded clipper field: prompt-first clipping, where you say what to look for instead of trusting a virality score, and romanized-script subtitles that almost nobody else supports. API, CLI and MCP access mean it can sit inside a pipeline rather than being another tab. The catch is the hour-based metering — 10 hours a month goes fast on a weekly podcast — and credits that expire after 13 months.

Pros

  • Prompt-first clipping picks moments by topic or intent, not just a highlight heuristic
  • Dubbing in 80+ languages and subtitles in 100+ including Hinglish, Romanized Urdu and Arabizi
  • Speaker tracking keeps multi-person panels framed through auto-reframe to 9:16 or 1:1
  • API, CLI and MCP access is included on the paid tiers, not gated to enterprise

Cons

  • Metered in source hours per month, so long-form libraries burn the allowance fast
  • Purchased credits expire 13 months after purchase
  • Free tier watermarks output at 720p and deletes projects after 7 days
  • Multi-video merge is still in private beta
