What our research says

Eklipse

Built specifically for streamers rather than adapted from a generic clipper, and it shows: game-aware detection across 3,000-plus titles, Kick and console support, and a stack of free Twitch utilities around it. The free tier is real. Premium is not cheap at $24.99 a month, and buying it inside the mobile app costs $3 more for the same thing.

Pros

  • Game-aware highlight detection across 3,000+ titles
  • Handles Twitch, Kick, YouTube and console sources
  • Free tier includes highlights, studio, publisher and the mobile app
  • Voice command to mark a moment mid-stream
  • Free Twitch emote, panel, badge and VOD tools alongside the paid product

Cons

  • Premium at $24.99/month is high for a single-purpose clipper
  • In-app purchase on iOS and Android costs $27.99 for the same plan
  • No public API
  • Terms grant Eklipse the right to use any video you process as promotional material

OpusClip

The default choice for turning a podcast or webinar into shorts, provided you accept that a human still has to reject a good share of the clips it picks. Pro now costs half as much on annual billing, which makes it the plan to compare against rivals; the free tier is for judging quality, not for publishing.

Pros

  • Reframing and animated captions are good enough to post without touch-up
  • Clip score gives a usable first-pass ordering of candidates
  • Free tier is a real plan, not a trial, so output quality is checkable first
  • Pro exports to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve and costs $14.50 a month on annual billing

Cons

  • Free exports carry a watermark, allow no editing and stop being exportable after three days
  • Clip selection still needs manual review; the score is a hint, not a verdict
  • Starter is monthly-only, so the annual discount applies only from Pro up
  • Full API access and custom integrations sit behind quote-only Business; Pro gets limited API access
