Use tool ↗About Context.dev
Context.dev, previously Brand.dev, is a web data API for developers and AI teams. One credit balance covers scraping pages to clean Markdown with JavaScript rendering and proxies included, mapping and crawling whole sites, live web search, sourced answers to research questions, change monitors, file parsing and the brand lookups the company started with: logos, company profiles and a site's style guide. It ships SDKs, a command-line tool and an MCP server so agents can call it directly. Typical uses are feeding RAG pipelines, grounding agents in live pages and personalising products with company data. It is run by Context Dev Inc., a Delaware company backed by Y Combinator.

Pros & cons of Context.dev
Context.dev is a sensible pick when you want scraping, crawling, search and brand data behind one key and one bill instead of stitching three vendors together. The credit table is published per endpoint, so costs are predictable for plain scrapes; the heavier calls — answers, brand lookups, enrichment — burn credits ten to twenty times faster, and that is where a budget goes.
Pros
- One API and credit balance covers scrape, crawl, search, answers, monitors and brand data
- Free tier of 1,000 credits a month with no card
- Credit cost per endpoint and overage rates are published on the pricing page
- SDKs, a CLI and an MCP server for agent use
Cons
- Answers, brand and style-guide lookups cost 10 credits and person enrichment 20, so mixed workloads drain plans quickly
- Recent rebrand from Brand.dev means older docs and integrations may still use the old name
- Developer tier caps concurrency at 10 requests
Best for
- Developers building RAG systems that need fresh web pages as Markdown
- Teams needing structured brand data such as logos, colours and company profiles via API
- AI agent builders who want an MCP server for web search and extraction
Not for
- Non-technical users without the means to call an API
- Teams whose workload is mostly answers or enrichment calls on a small budget
Watch out: Plan sizes are quoted in pages scraped at 1 credit each; JSON extraction costs 5 credits a page and answers at least 10, so the same plan covers far fewer of those calls.
