Use tool ↗About COACH by CareerVillage
COACH is a career-coaching assistant built by CareerVillage.org, the nonprofit behind the volunteer career Q&A site. It walks students, job seekers and nursing candidates through readiness activities — exploring paths, preparing applications, practising interviews — and it is free without limits for individuals. The money comes from institutions: schools, colleges and workforce programs either license seats for their users or embed COACH through an API or widget and pay per token. Institutional plans add dashboards, assignments, SSO and educator-level reporting, and the vendor cites SOC 2 and FERPA compliance for those deployments.

Pros & cons of COACH by CareerVillage
A nonprofit-run career coach that keeps individual access genuinely free and unlimited, funding itself by licensing to schools and workforce programs instead. For a student or job seeker that removes the usual paywall entirely. Institutions get dashboards, assignments, SSO and FERPA-aligned handling at $12 per licence a year, which is cheap for the category — but the effectiveness figures quoted come from the vendor's own learner surveys.
Pros
- Unlimited free access for individuals, stated as permanent rather than trial
- Run by an established education nonprofit rather than a venture-funded startup
- Institutional tier includes dashboards, assignments, SSO and educator reporting
- Embeddable through an API or widget billed per token, with SOC 2 and FERPA compliance claimed
Cons
- The 90% career-readiness figure is the vendor's own learner-reported number
- Institutional plans add a one-time setup fee that is never quantified publicly
- Aimed at early-career and student paths, not mid- or senior-career transitions
- No founding year, leadership detail or country is stated on the product site
Best for
- Students and job seekers who want coaching without paying for it
- Schools and workforce programs needing a coach with SSO and educator reporting
- Platforms wanting to embed career coaching via API or widget
Not for
- Experienced professionals seeking senior-level or executive career strategy
- Employers looking for recruiting or candidate-screening tooling
Watch out: Institutional quotes attach a one-time setup cost on top of the per-licence or per-token rate, and that setup figure never appears on the pricing page.
