What our research says

Cluely

Cluely's pitch is the live overlay: answers appear on your screen mid-call rather than in a recap afterwards, and no bot shows up in the participant list. That same invisibility is the reputational baggage — the company launched it as an interview-cheating tool — and the $149.99 tier exists specifically to hide the overlay from screen-share, which says how some buyers are expected to use it. At $19.99 for the ordinary Pro plan it is cheap next to sales-call platforms, but it is a personal assistant, not a team analytics suite.

Pros

  • Live, on-screen suggestions during the call, not post-call analytics
  • No bot joins the meeting, so it works with Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex and Slack calls alike
  • Free Starter tier and a $19.99 Pro plan, far below enterprise sales tools
  • Searchable notes across past meetings, with 12+ transcription languages

Cons

  • The company's origin as an interview and exam cheating tool is a reputational issue for some buyers
  • The 'undetectable' tier is priced at $149.99 a month, seven times Pro
  • Annual prices and the advertised 'from $11.99' rate are not shown on the pricing page
  • No team analytics, CRM sync or enterprise plan is listed

Granola

Granola is the note-taker for people who dislike note-taker bots: nothing joins the call, you keep writing your own shorthand, and the transcript fills in what you missed. The free tier is genuinely usable for an individual as long as you do not need notes older than a month; teams pay $14 a seat for history, integrations and the API, and anyone who wants a searchable archive of every call they ever had should budget for that from day one.

Pros

  • Bot-free capture through system audio works on every meeting platform and in person
  • Your typed notes stay the backbone; the AI enhances rather than overwrites them
  • Native apps on macOS, Windows, iOS, Android and Apple Watch
  • MCP connector and, on Business, an API and Notion/Zapier/HubSpot integrations
  • Free tier with unlimited notes and Slack sharing

Cons

  • Free plan keeps only 30 days of meeting history
  • Business and Enterprise prices are listed without saying whether they are annual or monthly rates
  • Model-training opt-out is per user below Enterprise, so a team cannot enforce it centrally
  • Captures only what the computer hears — a muted colleague's side on a phone call is lost

Which one fits

Choose Cluely if you need

  • People who want prompts during a call rather than a summary after it
  • Salespeople and job-seekers on frequent video calls who prefer a no-bot setup
  • Anyone testing the idea on the free tier before paying

Choose Granola if you need

  • Founders, salespeople and consultants in back-to-back external meetings who want a brief before and a summary after
  • People who take their own notes and want them enhanced, not replaced
  • Teams that cannot have a visible bot in client or candidate calls
