Use tool ↗About Camtasia
Camtasia is TechSmith's screen-recording and video-editing application, first released in 2002 and still sold as desktop software for Windows and macOS rather than a browser tool. Recent versions added AI features on top of the existing multi-track editor: AI-generated voiceovers and avatars, automatic dubbing and translation, background-noise removal, and text-based editing that lets you cut video by editing a transcript. A free version exports with a watermark; the cheapest paid tier is a Starter plan billed annually at about $39 a year.

Pros & cons of Camtasia
The standard choice for screen-recording tutorials and training videos, with two decades of iteration behind the editor and AI features added for voiceover, dubbing, and transcript-based editing. It's desktop software with an annual license, not a lightweight browser tool, so it's a heavier commitment than most newer AI video editors.
Pros
- multi-track recording of screen, webcam, and audio in one session
- text-based editing lets you cut video by editing a transcript
- AI voiceover, AI avatars, and automatic dubbing are built in, not a separate add-on
- free version available, though exports carry a watermark
Cons
- cheapest unlimited-editing tier still costs around $39/year, not a one-time purchase
- desktop-only — no web-based editing option
- watermark-free exports require paying, even for occasional users
Best for
- training and tutorial videos built from screen recordings
- teams standardizing on one editor across Windows and macOS
- creators who want AI voiceover and dubbing without a separate tool
Not for
- anyone wanting a browser-only, no-install video editor
- casual users who only need to trim one clip occasionally, given the annual pricing
