What our research says

Brisk Teaching

For a teacher on Google Classroom or Microsoft 365, Brisk is the rare AI tool that works where the marking happens: it sits in the browser, reads the document in front of you and writes the feedback, quiz or levelled version without copy-pasting. The free tier covers most of what an individual teacher needs, so the real decision is at district level, where the price is a per-student quote and the data agreement matters more than the feature list. Treat the feedback as a first draft a teacher edits, not as grading.

Pros

  • Works inside the browser and documents teachers already use, not a separate workspace
  • Free teacher plan includes the extension, Brisk Next and the feedback tools
  • Writing inspection replays a document's revision history, which helps flag pasted or generated work
  • Common Sense privacy rating and an ESSA Tier 3 evidence claim give districts something to check

Cons

  • School and district pricing is quote-only, per student, with no figure on the site
  • The 10,000-plus districts and 'one in three US teachers' figures are self-reported
  • Batch feedback on the free plan carries an upload limit the page does not quantify
  • Legal name is written two ways (Brisk Labs Corp. and Brisk Labs Co.) and no address is given

MagicSchool AI

MagicSchool wins on breadth and on fitting the shape of a teacher's week: each tool asks for the grade, standard and length a teacher is already thinking in, so the output lands closer to usable than a general chatbot's. The free plan is genuinely useful, and the district tier is why it keeps appearing in procurement. Its weakness is the same as every prompt-wrapper's - the quality of a levelled text or rubric still needs a teacher's eye, and the pupil-facing tools only make sense where the school has set the guardrails first.

Pros

  • More than 80 teacher tools and 50-plus student tools shaped around real classroom tasks
  • Permanent free plan rather than a trial
  • School tier adds SSO, SIS and LMS integration, moderation and dashboards
  • Plus is cheap at $8.33 a month on annual billing

Cons

  • Free-plan generation limits are not published on the pricing page
  • Output still needs checking against the curriculum and the class - it is a drafting aid, not a substitute
  • Quizzes and writing feedback are flagged as a preview with an end date, so their plan placement may change
  • No public API; integrations are limited to the named platforms

Which one fits

Choose Brisk Teaching if you need

  • Individual K-12 teachers on Google or Microsoft classrooms who want feedback and differentiation without leaving the document
  • Teachers differentiating one text into several reading levels and languages
  • Districts that want one vetted tool with a privacy rating and a pilot before a per-student contract

Choose MagicSchool AI if you need

  • Classroom teachers who want planning, differentiation and parent communication drafts in one place
  • Districts that need SSO, SIS and LMS integration and moderation controls before letting pupils use AI
  • Special-education and EAL staff producing levelled and adapted materials at volume
