What our research says

Bolt.new

Bolt is the quickest way to get from a sentence to a running web app you can click, and Bolt Cloud now removes the usual 'where does this deploy' problem for small projects. Treat the token meter as the real price: a complex app burns through the entry allowance fast, and the free tier is for trying the product, not shipping from it.

Pros

  • Whole toolchain runs in the browser, so there is no environment to set up or keep alive
  • Starts from a prompt, Figma design, GitHub repo or template, and exports back to GitHub
  • Bolt Cloud bundles hosting, databases and auth, which most prompt-to-app tools leave to you
  • Unused Pro tokens roll over, unlike most rivals' monthly allowances

Cons

  • Token-based pricing is hard to forecast; one long debugging session can eat days of allowance
  • Free tier is throttled daily (300K tokens) and carries Bolt branding
  • Yearly discount is advertised without the actual yearly prices on the page
  • No public API found, so Bolt cannot be driven from a script or CI

Floot

Floot's angle is that you never leave your chat assistant: it plugs in over MCP, so Claude or ChatGPT does the talking and Floot does the building, hosting and deploying. That makes it approachable for non-developers who already live in a chat window. The cost is opacity - you do not see the code path the way you would in a code-first builder, and the free tier deletes your app after two weeks.

Pros

  • Connects as an MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and Zed rather than being another separate editor
  • Provisions database, auth, cron jobs and email automatically instead of leaving them as homework
  • Flat plans rather than per-token billing, with credits only for optional features
  • Free tier is generous at 5,000 credits a month for trying the flow

Cons

  • Free-tier apps carry Floot branding and unpublish themselves after 14 days
  • The pricing page does not render for crawlers, so published figures are hard to verify
  • No documented public API - MCP is the integration path
  • Enterprise is reported to start around a $20,000 annual minimum

Which one fits

Choose Bolt.new if you need

  • Founders and designers who want a clickable prototype or landing page the same afternoon
  • Developers scaffolding a front end or internal tool before taking it into their own editor
  • Teams turning a Figma mock into a working front end without hand-coding the first pass

Choose Floot if you need

  • Non-developers who already work inside Claude or ChatGPT
  • Quick internal tools that need a database and logins without infrastructure work
  • Founders validating an idea before committing engineering time
