What our research says

Beautiful.ai

Buys you consistency rather than creativity — the layout engine stops non-designers producing ugly slides, which is worth real money in a sales org, but you are locked into its idea of what a slide is.

Pros

  • Smart-slide rules genuinely prevent the usual amateur layout failures
  • Brand locking and shared libraries make team consistency the default, not a review step
  • Long-established product rather than a recent generative wrapper

Cons

  • Month-to-month is roughly $45 against $12 on annual, so the headline price is a twelve-month commitment
  • Web-only, with no desktop or mobile app and no API
  • The layout engine resists you the moment you want something bespoke
  • No free tier — evaluation is a 14-day trial that wants a card

MagicSlides

Worth paying for when the deck has to end up as a real .pptx or a Google Slides file colleagues can edit, which is exactly the gap Gamma leaves open. Design quality is ordinary, so treat it as a first-draft generator rather than a finished deck.

Pros

  • a native Google Slides add-on removes the usual export-and-reimport dance
  • unusually wide input range: PDF, DOC/DOCX, images, MP4, YouTube links and plain URLs
  • an API tier exists, which most consumer deck generators do not offer
  • Zapier and ChatGPT integrations make it scriptable without custom code

Cons

  • slide design is template-driven and looks it beside Gamma or Tome
  • plans are expressed as dollar-denominated model credits, so throughput depends on which model you pick
  • the pricing page shows no free tier despite the free signup call to action
  • generated bullets usually need a manual rewrite before presenting

Which one fits

Choose Beautiful.ai if you need

  • Sales and consulting teams who need every deck to look the same
  • Non-designers who would otherwise drag boxes around in PowerPoint
  • Organisations enforcing brand rules across many authors

Choose MagicSlides if you need

  • students and analysts turning a paper, PDF or article into a lecture-style deck
  • teams locked into PowerPoint or Google Workspace templates
  • generating decks programmatically from another product via the API
