What our research says

AudioPen

The narrow focus is the point: AudioPen does one job, turning messy speech into text someone else can read, and does it across every device on a single account. The catch is the pass-based pricing, which asks for a year up front instead of letting you try a month.

Pros

  • Rewrite intensity is adjustable rather than take-it-or-leave-it
  • Custom writing styles and multi-note merging on paid passes
  • One licence spans web, mobile, Mac, Windows and Chrome
  • Zapier and webhook hooks for pushing notes into other tools

Cons

  • No monthly plan; the entry commitment is a multi-month pass
  • No documented public API, only Zapier and webhooks
  • Run by a very small operation, with little published about the company

Auri.AI

The system keyboard is what makes Auri interesting: rewriting and translation happen inside whatever app you are already typing in, rather than in a separate chat window. The catch is that the whole product is locked to Apple devices and its price is invisible until you hit the in-app paywall.

Pros

  • Keyboard integration works across any app, not just the vendor's own
  • Chat, notes, transcription and translation share one subscription
  • Explicit statement that keystrokes and speech are not stored or used for training
  • Free tier covers nearly all features under daily limits

Cons

  • No price published anywhere on the website
  • Apple platforms only, with no web fallback
  • No public API or integrations for automating the features

Which one fits

Choose AudioPen if you need

  • People who draft by talking and want usable prose, not a transcript
  • Writers and founders capturing ideas away from a keyboard
  • Anyone switching constantly between phone, laptop and browser

Choose Auri.AI if you need

  • iPhone and Mac users who want AI editing inside every app they type in
  • Multilingual writers who translate or paraphrase constantly on mobile
  • People recording meetings or memos on a phone and wanting them written up
