What our research says

AI Song Maker

A generous free tier — four songs a day without paying — makes this a cheap way to find out whether generated music is good enough for your purpose. The surrounding tools (stem splitting, cover voices, track extension) cover most of what people actually want after the first song. What you do not get is any information about who is running it, and the credit accounting mixes a monthly bill with a yearly allowance, which is the kind of thing that surprises people at renewal.

Pros

20 free credits daily, around four full songs, with no card
Generates from your own lyrics, not only from a style prompt
Bundles vocal removal, cover-voice generation, track extension and a MIDI editor alongside generation
Vendor states output is royalty-free and cleared for commercial use
Credit packs available for spikes rather than forcing a tier upgrade

Cons

No company name, address or jurisdiction published anywhere on the site
Credit allowances are quoted per year while the plan is billed per month, which obscures the real monthly ceiling
Credit packs are locked to existing subscribers, so a one-off burst still needs a subscription

Udio

Udio still has the best arrangement tools of the prompt-to-song generators, with extend, inpaint and remix controls that let you shape a track rather than reroll it. Since the Universal settlement, though, what you make stays on Udio: no downloads and personal use only, which turns it from a production tool into a listening and sharing app until the licensed 2026 service and its terms arrive.

Pros

Section-level control: extend, precede, inpaint, variation and remix rather than generate-and-pray
Settled with Universal and licensed with Warner, which lowers the legal risk of the output itself
Free tier with daily credits lets you evaluate before paying
Mobile apps alongside the web app, per the terms' app clauses

Cons

Output cannot be downloaded and is limited to personal, non-commercial use under the current terms
Pricing is invisible without JavaScript, so plan limits must be checked inside the app
The licensed platform promised for 2026 had no public terms or launch details on the site today
No API, and no stated country or address beyond the corporate name in the terms
