Use tool ↗About EssayCheck
EssayCheck pastes an essay through three checks at once: an AI-likelihood score with the flat-sounding sentences flagged one by one, a grade against a rubric with the single change that would lift it most, and a grammar, punctuation and style pass with errors underlined in place. A humaniser and an editor sit beside it, so the same site both flags machine-sounding text and rewrites it, which matters if you are a teacher rather than a student. There is no account, card or expiring trial; the only limits are 4,000 words per pass, a 120-word minimum for the AI score and unstated hourly caps. The terms were rewritten in August 2026 and no longer name an operating company.

Pros & cons of EssayCheck
Worth a paste before you hand in an essay: three readings in one screen, free, with no signup, and the per-sentence flags are more useful than a bare percentage. Do not treat it as an integrity tool, though. The site itself says detectors disagree with each other, the same page offers a humaniser to rewrite flagged text, and the plagiarism scan that justified the earlier paid plans has disappeared.
Pros
- Completely free with no account, card or expiring trial
- AI score, rubric grade and grammar check come back from one paste
- Per-sentence flagging shows what tripped the detector instead of a single number
- Handles up to 4,000 words in one pass
Cons
- Humaniser and editor sit next to the detector, undermining it as evidence of anything
- No plagiarism scan any more, and no history without an account
- No named operating company in the terms since the August 2026 rewrite
- No API, LMS integration or bulk upload for teachers
Best for
- Students checking a draft for machine-sounding sentences before submitting it
- Anyone who wants a quick grade estimate and grammar pass without creating an account
- Content and SEO writers screening copy for AI-flagged phrasing
Not for
- Institutional academic integrity work, since the same site sells the way around its detector
- Plagiarism checking, which the current site no longer offers
Watch out: Previously listed as AI Essay Checker with paid Basic and Pro plans; those are gone. Detectors of this kind produce false positives on non-native and heavily edited writing, so do not treat a score here as proof of anything.
