What our research says

Bolt.new

Bolt is the quickest way to get from a sentence to a running web app you can click, and Bolt Cloud now removes the usual 'where does this deploy' problem for small projects. Treat the token meter as the real price: a complex app burns through the entry allowance fast, and the free tier is for trying the product, not shipping from it.

Pros

  • Whole toolchain runs in the browser, so there is no environment to set up or keep alive
  • Starts from a prompt, Figma design, GitHub repo or template, and exports back to GitHub
  • Bolt Cloud bundles hosting, databases and auth, which most prompt-to-app tools leave to you
  • Unused Pro tokens roll over, unlike most rivals' monthly allowances

Cons

  • Token-based pricing is hard to forecast; one long debugging session can eat days of allowance
  • Free tier is throttled daily (300K tokens) and carries Bolt branding
  • Yearly discount is advertised without the actual yearly prices on the page
  • No public API found, so Bolt cannot be driven from a script or CI

Fabricate

Most prompt-to-app tools stop at generated code; Fabricate's pitch is that the boring parts - database, login, payments, hosting - are already connected when the app appears. Pinning it to Cloudflare Workers and D1 is what makes that possible and also what makes it awkward to leave. Sixty free credits a month is enough to see whether the generator understands your idea before paying.

Pros

  • Generated apps arrive deployed at a live URL with D1, authentication and Stripe already connected
  • Version history with one-click restore, so a bad generation is recoverable
  • Code exports to GitHub or a ZIP on paid plans, so you are not locked out of your own source
  • Free plan is 60 credits a month and one published project with no card required

Cons

  • Everything targets Cloudflare Workers and D1 - moving to another host means rewriting the runtime layer
  • Code export, private projects and custom domains are paid-only, so the free plan cannot ship a real product
  • Credits, not projects, are the unit, and a broad rewrite consumes them unpredictably
  • Company founded in 2025 with no track record to check

Which one fits

Choose Bolt.new if you need

  • Founders and designers who want a clickable prototype or landing page the same afternoon
  • Developers scaffolding a front end or internal tool before taking it into their own editor
  • Teams turning a Figma mock into a working front end without hand-coding the first pass

Choose Fabricate if you need

  • Founders shipping a paid MVP without setting up auth and Stripe themselves
  • Internal tools that need a login and a database but not a team
  • Testing an idea end to end before committing engineering time
